Rome, Italy

The amazing view of the city below, the contrasting white brick buildings with the deep blue sky, and the scarcity of people on the streets left me feeling at peace after visiting the heavily populated cities of Rome and Florence. For any traveler looking for a calming city after being overwhelmed with the rushing movement of tourist populated cities, consider this. This small Italian city deserves a lot more attention than it gets.

The famous Florence, Italy--ranked up there with Venice and Rome for the greatest tourist attractions--is known for its giant cathedral, sculptures and delicious gelato. Fortunately, the city is big enough and the attractions widespread enough, that travelers don't feel shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone else.

During a quick stop in the beautiful city of Luca, I was able to get a nice excercise as I sped-walked through the streets in order to see as much as possible before boarding back onto the bus. Luca offers a plentiful amount of shopping on narrow streets that lead into a plaza in the center with very unique architecture that will intrigue any traveler to snap a quick picture before continuing on exploring the alleys.

Due to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, this city has grown to be a tourist hot spot. Thankfully the city offers the beautiful architecture of the Battistero and Duomo di Pisa or else the town would face a devistation when the tower is expected to fall in the next 200 years.

One of the oldest cities of all time, it's hard to stray from tourist attractions when almost everything is an historical monument. And although almost every picture is bound to contain many tourists, this doesn't take away from the ancient beauty the city has maintained. Although Rome is famous for the Vatican City, Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, there is plenty for travelers to discover between monuments.
